David F. Barhorst, 67, of Lakeview, passed away Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 29, 1948, in Sidney. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Barhorst, his mother, Rosella “Sally” Platfoot Barhorst Ware, a sister, Susan Barhorst; and two brothers, Russell and Dale Barhorst.
On March 29, 1969, in McCartyville, he married the former Bonnie Snider and she survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Leslie (Johnrobert) Teets of Lakeview; two sons, Eric (Marcie) Barhorst of Lakeview and Cedric (Michele) Barhorst of Waynesfield; nine grandchildren, Lauren Barhorst, Alex Barhorst, Triston Teets, Jordan Barhorst and Donte, Dawson, Julianna, Drake and Josselynne Carmen; one great-granddaughter; a brother, Jack (Beth) Barhorst of Maplewood; stepbrother, Jerry Ware of Jackson Center; and a stepsister, Janice (Jack) Richardson of Jackson Center.
David had worked as a farmer, barber, truck driver and was the former owner of J.C. Inn in Jackson Center. He served in the Air Force reserve and was a member of the Highland American Legion Post 0446 in Anna, Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39, Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533 and Eagles Lodge 3615, all of Lakeview. David was also involved with the Anna Fire and Rescue for 12 years.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be observed at the Highland American Legion Post 0446, 14900 County Road 25A, Anna, from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. A short ceremony will be performed by the Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39 of Lakeview.
