Daniel William “Dan” Ashcraft, 88, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 8:03 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Brookdale Marysville. He was born in Cleveland on March 10, 1930, to the late Robert Wilson and Mildred Marie MacDonald Ashcraft.
On Nov. 24, 1951, he married Nancy Diane Sparks and she preceded him in death June 3, He also was preceded in death by his children, Laurie Lynn Bowling, Daniel William “Bill” Ashcraft and Jeffrey Richard Ashcraft; a grandson, Jackson Blue Ashcraft; and a brother, Robert Curtis Ashcraft.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Nancy J. “Joni” (Brad) Orders of Ostrander, Jennifer (Josh) Wilcoxon, Daniel (Meghan) Ashcraft III and Heidi (Dustin) Hall, all of Bellefontaine, and Amanda (Ryan) Montgomery of Delaware; great-grandchildren, Declan, Brenneke, Braelyn, Sullivan, Ava, Alek, Alina, Micah, Starriy, Reign, Nautus, Messiah and one on the way; daughter-in-law, Mellissa “Missy” Ashcraft of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was of graduate of Bellefontaine High School and attended Miami University. He worked as a factory supervisor for 45 years at Glacier Daido.
Dan was a member of the Bellefontaine Elks Lodge 132. He was a faithful American Red Cross blood donor and donated 50-plus gallons in his lifetime.
Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates funeral services for Dan and his daughter, Laurie Ashcraft Bowling at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where visitation for them both is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, and one hour prior to the funeral.
Burials are in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
