Christopher B. Greer, 32, of Fort Jennings, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as a result of an incident Saturday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office who were in the parking lot of Dollar General, 13797 N. State Route 235, Lakeview, about 9:25 observed a vehicle pull into the parking lot with heavy front end damage. Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies also observed that it was smoking from under the hood.
While speaking with the driver, Greer, deputies observed that he showed signs of intoxication. He said he had just been at an area bar, where he had gotten punched in the mouth. Deputies observed a laceration on his arm and requested EMS to respond to the scene.
The defendant told deputies he had consumed three beers that evening. He refused to submit to field sobriety testing.
Greer denied being in an accident in the vehicle, but deputies observed dirt and grass hanging from the undercarriage of the vehicle, a cracked window, and a damaged rearview mirror. Deputies also recovered suspected marijuana from the vehicle.
The defendant was placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail, where he submitted to a breath test, with a result of 0.163 blood alcohol content. He also was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and was released to a sober person.
Man lodged for aggravated menacing
Michael L. Driscol, 67, of 11251 County Road 106, Belle Center, was charged with aggravated menacing and resisting arrest as a result of an incident Saturday.
Deputies were dispatched about 3:50 p.m. to a residence on Vine Street, Belle Center, on a report from his ex-wife, who reported Driscol had become very angry as a result of a custody issue involving their grandchild. She said he had yelled obscenities at her and attempted to flip over a picnic table. He then reportedly made threats against her.
Another witness provided deputies with a similar account of the incident.
Deputies went to Driscol’s address and spoke with him there. He completed a statement for deputies, but then resisted deputies when he was placed under arrest, continually pulling away from deputies. He was lodged in the jail.
Cash reported stolen from residence
Deputies responded Friday evening to a residence on east Buckeye Street, Belle Center, on a report of a theft of $15,000.
The property owner told deputies he had been out of town the previous weekend, but didn’t notice anything out of place upon returning home. Friday, he opened a lockbox at his residence and discovered that cash totaling $15,000 was missing. He said he had just retired and the cash was intended for his retirement.
Neither deputies nor the property owner observed any signs of forced entry to the home.
Deputies also spoke with a neighbor regarding accessing video surveillance of the property. The investigation continues.
