Dallas Prater, 65, of Bellefontaine, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Detroit, Mich., on April 21, 1951, a son of the late Oral and Ruby Brewer Prater. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Don Prater; and infant daughter, Stacie Sue Prater.
On May 12, 1975, he married Sue E. Payne and she survives in Bellefontaine along with one daughter, Donna Peters, and a son, Tracy (Candy) Prater, both of Bellefontaine; four grandchildren, Brittney Sue Godwin, Jason Peters Jr., Garrett Prater and Grace Prater; five sisters, Louise Bausman, Virginia Ahlbrand, Carol Prater, Christine Prater and Darlene Johnson; and one brother, Oral Prater Jr.
Dallas was a U.S. Army veteran and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He worked and retired from I.C.P. in Marysville. He volunteered at Our Daily Bread as well as at the former Top of Ohio Pet Shelter.
Margaret Ball officiates a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., where visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 27, and one hour before the service. Burial is in Rushsylvania Cemetery with military honors provided by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
