Dale R. Harshbarger, 65, of Huntsville, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018, at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital.
He was born in Sidney on May 18, 1952, to Richard “Dick” Harshbarger, who survives in Bellefontaine, and Martha E. Marsh Harshbarger, who preceded Dale in death Aug. 19, 2016.
He is survived by his daughter, Alisha Ruley of Wapakoneta; grandchildren, Skyla and Kasen Ruley; brothers, Jack (Dee Dee) Harshbarger and Mark (Teresa) Harshbarger, both of DeGraff, and Chris Harshbarger of Bellefontaine; sister, Deb Harshbarger of Lakeview; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He also was preceded in death by a niece, Paige Harshbarger.
Dale was a veteran of the U. S. Army. After his service, he worked at the stockyard for his mother and father.
Dale later became the Logan County Dog Warden. He was an avid hunter, especially mushroom hunting and enjoyed trapping. Dale played softball, was a huge Michigan Wolverines fan, and loved his dogs, especially Dorothy. Dale loved teasing his family members, especially the younger ones, and they loved spending time hanging out in his “fur shed.” Dale will be missed by all.
Rev. Bill Halter officiates a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St., DeGraff, where visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
