D. William “Bill” Ashcraft, 64, of Columbus and formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away at 2:53 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born in Bellefontaine on June 1, 1952, to Daniel W. Ashcraft and the late Nancy D. Sparks Ashcraft. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey R. Ashcraft, and a nephew, Jackson Ashcraft.
On March 30, 1991, he married the former Melissa Neill in Bellefontaine, and she survives, along with four children, Nancy “Joni” (Brad) Orders, Jennifer “Jenny” (Josh) Wilcoxon, Daniel (Meghan) Ashcraft and Amanda (Ryan) Montgomery; eight grandchildren, Declan, Brenneke, Braelyn, Sullivan, Ava, Alek, Alina and Micah; a sister, Laurie Ashcraft-Bowling; a niece, Heidi; and aunts and uncles, Fred Sparks and Sharon (Roy) Weimert.
A grocery retail technologist, Bill had been a member of the Ohio Grocers Association. He was also a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Bellefontaine Elks Lodge 132 and the Lincoln Village Residents Association. Bill was a passionate advocate for animals.
Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates a funeral service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where calling begins at noon prior to the service.
Burial follows in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
