Cynthia Marie Molton, 54, of Urbana, passed away, Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
She was born Dec. 25, 1962, in Urbana, a daughter of the late Bernard and Juanita J. Gatten Powell. Cynthia was a graduate of Urbana High School and earned her associate degree from Kaplan University.
She was previously employed as a paralegal with attorney Cathy Weithman for more than 20 years and recently joined the law office of Smith, Smith, Montgomery and Chamberlain in Bellefontaine.
Cynthia was a devoted member of the Urbana Church of the Nazarene, where she was involved in the small group Bible study and singing. She enjoyed cross stitching and music.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Steven E. Molton; her sons, Samuel E. (fiancée Amber McNeal) Molton and Jacob M. Molton; her siblings, Joyce A. (Daniel) Hobbs, Betty L. (Mike) Holbrook, Debbie Y. (Jack Ramey) Inskeep, Vasso A. (Tony) Brown, Kenneth L. (Carmen) Powell, Keith A. (Judy Wright) Powell, Willie Powell, Duane (Misty) Powell and Steven (Lisa) Powell; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Vickie Snapp, also preceded her in death.
Cynthia was most passionate and very active along with her husband and sons for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. She was a Tiger Den Leader of Pack 21 and the unit commissioner of Troop and Crew 258. In honor of Cynthia the family requests all scouts attending to wear their uniforms.
Cynthia’s final gift was participating in the tissue donor program through Life Line of Ohio.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, in the Urbana Church of the Nazarene, 1999 State Route 29, Urbana. A funeral service to celebrate Cynthia’s life is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, in the church with Pastor Larry Hall officiating.
Burial follows in Oakdale Cemetery.
