Entering her senior season, Benjamin Logan basketball standout Nikki Current knew exactly how many points it would take to reach the historic 2,000 mark.
“I needed 535,” she said. She finished the regular season with 535 and then some.
In her final game in front of the home crowd, Current scored 38 on Wednesday in an 81-45 rout of Graham.
Current needed just two points Wednesday to get to 2,000 and ended the suspense about a minute into the game with a turnaround jumper.
“It was nice to get it early in the game like that,” said Current with a smile. “It was a little bit stressful.”
Current becomes the first Logan County basketball player to score 2,000 points.
The game was stopped after her milestone achievement. She was presented the game ball by Ben Logan athletic director Scott Reule.
“It means a lot to me,” said Current. “I can’t thank my teammates enough. I couldn’t do it without them. They always work hard to try to get me the ball.”
