Five more years as a firefighter-paramedic has been Dave Crissman’s driving goal for the past six months.

Now he can go out his way — physically strong and walking on his own.
On Sept. 26, a heart attack nearly claimed him at the age of 55, but the quick action of his fellow paramedics kept him alive.
Doctors didn’t find any damage to his heart and the 26-year veteran of the Bellefontaine Fire and EMS Department delved into a rehabilitation regiment that made it possible to return to full time duty last week.
His renewed strength and vigor gives him confidence he will be able to complete his retirement plans.
“I didn’t want to go out on a cot,” he said. “I wanted to walk out of here strong.”
