Driver Erica McCarthy, 26, of Lakeview, and her 1-year-old passenger were transported by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital following a crash about 12:15 a.m. today during winter weather conditions.
McCarthy reportedly sustained non-incapacitating injuries in the crash, while the child sustained possible injuries, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.
The driver reportedly was operating a westbound jeep on U.S. Route 33 just west of County Road 57 when she lost control and went off the right side of the snowy road, struck a guardrail.
Damage was light to the jeep.
McCarthy was wearing her seat belt, and her passenger was properly restrained in a child safety seat. The driver was cited for failure to control.
• Stephanie Breitfeller, 34, of Sidney, also was cited for failure to control related to a non-injury crash about 3:30 a.m. today on State Route 47.
Deputies report she was operating a westbound car just east of County Road 31 during snowy conditions when she lost control and drove off the right side of the road, struck a tree and caused heavy damage to her vehicle.
The driver was wearing her seat belt.
• Cole Bevington, 23, of DeGraff, was cited for failure to yield related to a non-injury crash Tuesday afternoon at Township Road 56 and Stockyard Road.
Deputies report Bevington was operating a westbound pickup on Stockyard Road when his brakes failed, and his vehicle proceeded into the intersection of T.R. 56 without stopping at the stop sign. His pickup then struck a southbound sport utility vehicle operated by Karen Beck, 62, of Bellefontaine.
Damage was heavy to both vehicles. The drivers and their occupants were wearing their seat belts.
