Drew A. Guyton, 19, of 1605 Township Road 216, Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and underage consumption as a result of a crash about 4:55 a.m. Sunday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating a northbound car on County Road 18 near Township Road 187 when he drove off the right side of the road and struck a fence. Damage was heavy to the car, and no injuries were reported.
While speaking with the driver, Guyton, deputies observed that he displayed signs of intoxication and he was unsteady on his feet. He denied consuming any alcohol, but instead said the reason for the crash was that he had “fallen asleep.”
He submitted to field sobriety tests, and later admitted to deputies that he had consumed four alcoholic beverages at a friend’s house. Deputies also located an open bottle of vodka and an open can of beer inside the vehicle.
Guyton was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he tested 0.137 blood alcohol content. He also was cited for failure to control and open container in a motor vehicle.
• William R. Grigsby Jr., 50, of Spencerville, was charged with OVI and/or drugs during a traffic stop about 11 p.m. Saturday.
Deputies on patrol in the area of State Route 235 near Township Road 93 observed a pickup travel left of center. The deputy operating the patrol cruiser reportedly had to swerve off the right side of the road to avoid a collision with the pickup.
The traffic stop was initiated in the area of S.R. 235 and State Route 366. Deputies observed signs of intoxication while speaking with the driver, Grisby, and he said he had consumed two beers prior to driving.
He submitted to field sobriety tests and was transported to the jail, where he refused to take a blood alcohol content test.
He also was cited for left of center.
• Aaron Brock, 37, of 812 Euclid St., Bellefontaine, was charged with OVI and was cited for speed and driving under non-compliance suspension during a traffic stop about 2 a.m. Saturday.
Deputies on patrol in the area of State Route 47 and Township Road 211 observed his vehicle traveling at 79 miles per hour and the traffic stop was initiated. While speaking with the driver, Brock, deputies observed that he displayed signs of intoxication and they smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage. He said he had consumed two shots of alcohol in the last 30 minutes.
The defendant submitted to field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. At the jail, he submitted to a urine test, with test results pending.
