The Logan County Unified Drug Task Force conducted a narcotic enforcement operation in the Indian Lake area that resulted in a Tuesday traffic stop and the arrest of two Dayton area defendants.
The passenger, Ian N Shepherd, 24, from Dayton was charged with trafficking in drugs and having weapons under disability. At the time of his arrest about 5 p.m., he was found to be wearing a bullet-proof vest, Task Force members said.
The driver of the vehicle, Kiara T. Jones, 22, was also arrested for trafficking in drugs.
The traffic stop at the intersection of State Route 235 and State Route 720, in Lakeview followed an investigation by the Task Force into a large scale source of illegal prescription pills being distributed to the Indian Lake region.
During the stop, Task Force members recovered 101 Percocet pills and 95 Xanax pills, a large amount of cash and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic hand gun.
