A steadfast faith, a dedication to a regular exercise regimen and taking the time to enjoy a piece of cake every now and then just might be some of the stepping stones to longevity, Logan County’s oldest known resident shared Wednesday during her 107th birthday party at Logan Acres Care Center, 2739 County Road 91,Bellefontaine.
Dorothy Jordan celebrated her March 2 birthday alongside a number of her family members, many of whom traveled from Pennsylvania to be by her side, along with Logan Acres staff and residents, who greeted her with hugs and special gifts.
They had decorated the foyer of the facility with balloons and flowers for the special occasion and set up a buffet table with an assortment of desserts.
The guest of honor helped herself to a healthy piece of chocolate cake, which she said was “delicious.” She said some of her favorite cake flavors include coconut and chocolate cherry cake.
“I was well-known for making a chocolate cherry cake at my church,” she said. “It was really good.”
Several elected officials stopped by to extend their well wishes, including Bellefontaine Mayor Ben Stahler and his service dog in training, Rio, and Logan County Commissioner Dustin Wickersham. Mrs. Jordan also received a signed letter from Gov. John Kasich, commending her on the big day.
She also had the chance to look through about 150 birthday cards that she received, both locally and from around the state, including a packet of handmade cards from an elementary school in Zanesville.
