City employees will get a 2.5 percent pay raise under salary ordinances and union contracts given first readings at Tuesday’s Bellefontaine City Council meeting.
The ordinances were among 16 new measures before the body.
It is the earliest contract negotiations have concluded with the police and firefighter unions.
“It’s great to see these done so early,” said Finance Committee member and former chair Deb Baker. “We’ve come a long way.” Each union package is a three-year deal, the maximum allowed by state law, and provides 2 1/2-percent annual increases.
Firefighters were given a bump in paramedic pay while police officers will see the same shift differential for working second and third shifts.
Clerical, service workers, supervisors and administration are not part of bargaining units and any pay increases are set by council members each year.
