Exhibitors at Wednesday’s open class flower show said the challenging growing conditions this year resulted in a difficulties in determining which of their container plants were show worthy for the day two competition.

“We’ve had a wet season with a lot of bugs,” said Doris Hager of Bellefontaine, who received a best of show award in container plants for her coleus.
“Luckily, I was able to find some items to bring to the show today.”
“I’ve been doing a lot of spraying lately. Those bugs really get at the leaves and are hard to deal with,” agreed Judy Bozman, who won a reserve horticulture award for her peppermint spice variety of a coral bell leaf.
