Trustees of the West Mansfield Conservation Club agreed to contact representatives of the National Rifle Association to schedule an inspection of the club’s shooting range after recent reports of ricocheting or errant bullets hitting village-owned buildings.

It is a problem that must be addressed to avoid accidental shootings and potential civil liabilities for shooters, the club and the township.
The West Mansfield Village Council discussed the issue Wednesday with Perry Township trustees, Logan County’s sheriff-elect, an Ohio wildlife officer and several trustees of the club.
Village employees are leery of working at the village’s sewer lagoon system after finding bullets lodged in an electric meter and in and around the building itself, Administrator David Evans said.
