Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities Superintendent Saul Bauer thanked the community during the board’s recent meeting for their support of the agency’s annual flower sales that wrapped up in mid-April.
Funds raised will benefit the Bellefontaine Elementary School Dare to Be Aware Club initiative for accessible playgrounds in Logan County.
Flower orders can be pick up from 4 to 7 p.m. May 11 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 12 at the Discovery Center.
Mr. Bauer said flower sales were down slightly this year with other area schools also selling flowers this spring. He expressed appreciation to project coordinators Becky Robison and Jenifer Schreiner and to the top two salespeople in the community, Leslie Joseph and Charles Soepfle.
Also related to playground projects, the superintendent shared information about the recent accessibility changes to the playground at the Discovery Center, which was featured in an article in Thursday’s Bellefontaine Examiner. A concrete pathway and area were installed for easier access with walkers and wheelchairs, and a drum set and specialized swings were also added.
