Plans are progressing to have a new digital sign installed at the main entrance to the Logan County Fairgrounds along Main Street after the county commissioners agreed to pay for nearly one-third of the cost of the project.
The Logan County Fair Board recently submitted a presentation and quote to Logan County Commissioners Joe Antram, Mark Robinson and Mike Yoder for the installation of a state-of-the-art digital sign at the main entrance of the fairgrounds. The proposed sign, which is set to be double-sided and illuminated, promises to enhance the visitor experience and provide new advertising opportunities for the community.
The digital sign, with a high-resolution full-color electronic message center that would measure 5-by-1- feet, would become a prominent landmark at the fairgrounds. Manufactured with updated technology and offering a 4G Verizon Data Plan, the sign will be capable of displaying dynamic and engaging content to captivate fairgoers and passersby.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be $78,104. The fair board asked the commissioners to contribute $27,000 to complete the installation successfully.
The new digital sign would allow the fair board to generate revenue by displaying advertisements for the local community. The rates for advertising would be in line with those offered by other entities in the area, according to discussion.
Commissioner Robinson expressed concerns regarding past audit findings that suggested deficiencies in the fair board’s financial record-keeping practices.
After discussion, Commissioner Yoder moved to allocate $27,000 from the Economic Development fund to support the Logan County Agricultural Society in their efforts to acquire a new digital sign for the fairgrounds’ main entrance. Commissioner Antram seconded the motion. Commissioner Robinson voted no.
With the new digital sign poised to grace the fairgrounds entrance, residents and visitors can look forward to an enhanced fair experience and a visually-captivating landmark showcasing a vibrant community spirit.
