Several county offices — Logan County Clerk of Courts, Logan County Recorder and Logan County Engineer’s Office — have announced this week that they are closing to walk-in traffic to reduce the spread of COVID-19 virus.
Logan County Clerk of Courts Barb McDonald said her title and legal offices were closing to the public beginning Thursday, March 19. However, she noted that the title office will soon be serving customers by utilizing a drive thru option.
Her office handles civil cases, criminal cases and court of appeal cases.
“I am suspending collection efforts in my legal office at this time. I understand that many people have become unemployed due to the many closures happening as a result of the virus.”
Individuals are asked to mail any correspondence, pleadings or payments directly to the legal office: Logan County Clerk of Courts, 101 S. Main St., Room 218, Bellefontaine.
“I would like to ask you all for your help and cooperation during this time. If we can slow the spread of this virus, it will help our hospital and health care professions deal with the most severe cases,” McDonald said.
Her office can be reached by phone at the following numbers — title, (937) 599-7254; and legal (937) 599-7275.
Logan County Recorder Pat Myers said her office, 100 S. Madriver St., Suite A, also is closed to the public, effective at the end of the business day Wednesday, March 18, until further notice.
Attorneys, title abstractors and surveyors are permitted to utilize the research room from noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Documents needing to be recorded can be dropped off at the designated table in the foyer at the east end of the building.
Veteran ID cards are not being issued at this time until further notice.
“I would like to ask for your understanding and cooperation during this time,” Myers said. “We are making these adjustments for your safety and ours.
“Please do not hesitate to call my office if you have questions or need assistance.”
The Logan County Recorder’s Office can be reached at (937) 599-7201.
The Engineer’s Office also reports that the Logan County Map Room, 100 S. Madriver St., Suite B, is closed to the public until further notice.
Documents for the map room can also be dropped off at the east end of the building in the tray labeled “IN” and pick up from the tray labeled “OUT.” The trays are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Recorder’s office staff will walk documents through to the other offices before recording. Documents for recording must have exact filing fees attached.
For other map room requests, call (937) 599-7230 or e-mail maproom. Most documents also are available through http://lceo.us/maproom.
Officials from the Logan County Engineer’s Office announced that the office, 1991 County Road 13, and highway garage are closed to the public until further notice.
“We have a mailbox outside the front door for drop-offs and pick-ups,” representatives said.
Most documents are available through the agency’s webpage, http://lceo.us. The office staff can be reached at (937) 592-2791; fax (937) 599-2658; or by mail, P.O. Box 427, Bellefontaine, Ohio, 43311.
