SHOWALTER |
Bellefontaine City Schools’ Classified Employee of the Year was honored by the district’s board of education and administration Monday evening during an otherwise routine board meeting that included the approval of several personnel items.
Laurie Showalter, who has served as the Bellefontaine High School principal’s secretary for eight years, was recognized with the award, presented by Roger Ely, executive director of administrative services.
During a district staff training waiver day March 14, the award recipient was first surprised with the news that she had received this honor, voted upon by both classified and certified staff. She was called to the front of the BHS Distance Learning Center while greeted by a standing ovation from her peers, as featured in a March 15 story in the Examiner.
“We have many hardworking individuals in our district, but one individual kept coming to the top when we were reading through the nominations,” Ely said of Showalter that day.
