Clarence Wesley Plikerd, Jr., 85, of Lakeview, OH passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Kettering Medical Center, Dayton, OH.
Wesley was born on January 11, 1936, in Spencerville, OH, a son of the late Clarence W. Sr. and Catherine L. Jackson Plikerd. On July 17, 1955, he married Patricia Ann Dowell at the former EUB Church in Lakeview, and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by four siblings, Charles W. Plikerd, Jean Ann Conley, Robert M. Plikerd and Nancy J. Jacobs.
Wesley is survived by five children, Vincent J. Plikerd, Sr. of Lakeview, Jamie L. Plikerd-Reilly of Charlotte, NC, Patrick S. (Regina) Plikerd of Bellefontaine, OH, Michele L. (Matt) Fordham and Heather C. (John) Sortino, both of Chicago, IL, six grandchildren, Vincent J. (Jennifer) Plikerd, Jr., Marcus M. (Amber) Plikerd, Christian W. Plikerd, Olivia T. Reilly, Sofia G. Sortino, and Josiah W. Plikerd, 11 great grandchildren, Payton, Avery, Mayson, Brooklyn, Colton, Garrett, Weston, Abigail, Sky, Cody, and Kaneshea, several nieces and nephews, and his feline companion, Frosty.
Wesley was a 1954 graduate of Stokes Local School in Lakeview. He retired from DAB in 2004 after 45 years. Wesley attended Bellefontaine First Church of God. He was an avid fan of the Indian Lake Lakers, OSU Buckeyes, and Cleveland Browns. Wesley enjoyed football, bicycling, gardening, and working outdoors. He loved spending time with his family.
Pastor Gary Brown will begin a celebration of Wesley’s life at 10:00 am, Monday, July 12, 2021, at Bellefontaine First Church of God. Visitation is Sunday, July 11th from 2-5 pm at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview and one hour prior to services on Monday at church. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
