Kaleb R. Ritter, 21, of 308 Clagg St., was charged Tuesday with felonious assault and rape.
A 24-year-old Russells Point woman came to the Bellefontaine Police Department just before 1 a.m. to report multiple assaults and a rape over the past two weeks.
She told the suspect she no longer wanted to see him and he became angry. He pulled her into his pickup truck and told her he would kill her if she ever left him.
Fearing for her safety, she agreed to try to work on their relationship. Instead, the assaults increased leading to a rape. Afterward, he allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat, held her against a wall choking her before holding a knife to her throat.
She told officers she realized she needed to get help and sought medical attention Monday afternoon at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney.
After treatment and documentation of her injuries, she came to Bellefontaine to file a report. Medical staff documented bruising all of her body and sprained wrists. Officers observed facial injuries and bruises on her neck and arms. Photographs of the injuries were collected as evidence.
Officers found Ritter at his residence and arrested him. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
