Nathaniel G. Jones, 20, of 227 N. Detroit St., was arrested Thursday after he allegedly threatened to kill a neighbor.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department met with Caden Smith and Tiarra Lewis at their 300 N. Detroit St., Apt. D, residence around 10:40 p.m. Smith showed officers a series of text messages in which Jones threatens Smith and challenges him to come outside.
Jones admits Smith’s door and states “I promise I will finish you” and “I will kill you” in the text messages, officers report. Jones came back to the residence and tried open the door to Smith’s apartment.
Both Smith and Lewis told officers Smith armed himself with a knife and checked the door which scared off Jones.
The suspect was located at his residence and taken into custody. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail on charges of aggravated menacing and assault.
Father allows son to consume whiskey
Terry R. Rice, 54, of 1000 Garfield Ave., Lot 59, was charged Friday with endangering children.
Officers were called to the residence at 12:50 a.m. and met with Ruth Clark, also a resident. She told officers she came home from work to find Rice and their 16-year-old son, Kolton Rice, extremely intoxicated.
Rice had allowed Kolton to consume whiskey and the teen was found passed out in his bed laying in vomit. Paramedics with the Bellefontaine Fire and EMS Department arrived on scene and determined the teen needed medical attention. Kolton was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.
Rice was lodged in jail.
Incident reports were forwarded to the Logan County Childern’s Services and the Bellefontaine Municipal Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspect lodged in domestic
Larry L. Piatt III, 28, of 525 Albert St., was charged domestic violence after a 4:15 p.m. incident at Dollar General, 308 N. Main St.
Officers met with Piatt and Ashley Huffman, also of 525 Albert St. They couple were heading from West Liberty to home when they began arguing. Huffman told police she did not feel safe continue to their residence and stopped as the retail business instead
Witnesses observed Piatt throw an item from the couple’s park sport utility vehicle, strike her in the face while inside the SUV and struggle with her outside the vehicle to gain control of the SUV’s keys.
Huffman had visible injuries to her hands but she would not allow officers to photograph her injuries and she declined to provide a written statement.
Piatt was lodged in jail.
