The Area Agency on Aging hosts a six-week Healthy U chronic disease management workshop from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Aug. 23, at Logan Acres, 2739 County Road 91, Bellefontaine.
The Homestead at Logan Acres also will provide complimentary lunch at 12:30 p.m. for program participants.
Workshops are open to adults of any age who have a chronic health condition and/or their caregivers. There is no charge for participants who are 60 years of age or older thanks to funding from the Older Americans Act; and the $15 fee for younger participants will be paid by The Homestead.
Healthy U is an interactive, small group workshop that has been proven to improve quality of life and reduce health care expenses by increasing self-confidence and providing new skills so that participants can better manage their symptoms and feel healthier.
The program focuses on common problems like chronic pain, nutrition, exercise, medication use, emotions, and communicating with doctors and family about your illness.
Everyone who completes the course receives the companion textbook, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions.
Space is limited and advance registration is required by calling Kathryn Sherer at 599-7066, or send her an email to [email protected].
