ROBINSON JR. |
A Lakeview man whose father caused life-threatening injuries to a child in 2007 was charged Tuesday evening with felonious assault and endangering children as a result of injuries sustained by a 13-month-old child.
Michael B. Robinson Jr., 23, was arrested by deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office about 6:35 p.m. and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Aug. 24, deputies were called to Mary Rutan Hospital in reference to a 13-month-old child that had been brought to the hospital with multiple injuries.
The child was diagnosed with multiple leg fractures and was transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. The 13-month-old has since been released from the hospital and is in the care of family members, Chief Deputy Chris Prickett said this morning.
The investigation is ongoing in that case and additional charges are pending.
The defendant’s father, Michael Robinson, 53, is currently serving a prison sentence for the death of Dana Robinson, after a beating that the child endured at the hands of his father. The morning of Feb. 26, 2007, Robinson Sr. called 911 to report Dana, then 11 months old, was not breathing. He greeted Bellefontaine paramedics at the door with the boy in his arms.
Dana, who sustained severe brain trauma, passed away Nov. 13, 2015, at the age of 9.
In accordance with an April 19, 2017 plea agreement to involuntary manslaughter, Judge Michael S. O’Connor gave Robinson Sr. the maximum 11-year sentence with a start date of April 19, 2017 and to run concurrent to the remainder of a 14-year sentence imposed in 2007.
The additional sentence extends the defendant’s time in prison to April 18, 2028.
