Bellefontaine’s Caitlyn Shumaker dominated on the soccer field this fall and coaches took notice as she was named the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail player of the year.
Shumaker led the CBC in goals (23) and points (48) along with breaking the Bellefontaine single-season scoring record. She was one of 10 area players to earn spots on the all-CBC squad.
Joining Shumaker on the Kenton Trail division first team was teammate Daja Wilson. The Chiefs’ Angelica Edu landed a second-team spot and Carmen Shumaker was named special mention.
Ben Logan and Indian Lake both had three selections in the Mad River division.
Earning a first-team honor for the Raiders was Jennifer Nargon, while Ashlyn Shaner represented the Lakers on the first team.
Receiving second-team selections were Ben Logan’s Gretchen Wilber and Indian Lake’s Raelyn Parsell. Special mention awards went to the Raiders’ Rachel Mears and the Lakers’ Macie Robinson.
Local players earning a sportsmanship award were Bellefontaine’s Emma Middaugh, Ben Logan’s Kerry Copenhaver and Indian Lake’s McKenzee Lewis.
Tecumseh claimed the CBC Kenton Trail division championship this fall. The Arrows saw Shannon Calmes, Bridget Harris and Taylor Sisco make the first team.
Rounding out the KT first team were Springfield Shawnee’s Raegan Howdyshell, Megan Kelly and Andi Meeks, Jonathan Alder’s Katie Hooley and Emma Rector, Kenton RIdge’s Madison Koman and London’s Amber Wolford.
Special mention picks for the KT division went to Tecumseh’s Keirsten Goenner, Shawnee’s Mary Lyons, London’s Emily Fraysier, Kenton Ridge’s Isabelle Cadogan and Alder’s Sydnie Bushong.
Northwestern and Urbana tied for the CBC Mad River division crown this fall. The Hillclimbers’ Sam Tracy earned player of the year honors.
Making up the rest of the Mad River first team were Northwestern’s Leah Bainbridge, Arie Callicoat, Carlee Nicewaner and Taylor Sarven and Urbana’s Tracy, Telanei Brown, Ashleigh Deskins and Sophia Talebi.
Filling out the second-team list for the MR division were Northwestern’s Emily Greenberg, Grace Gundolf, Hannah Nicewaner and Stephanie White, Urbana’s Tessa Armstrong, Kate Bender, Sam Rooney and Shai-Anne Settle and Graham’s Grace Nash and Machaela Whaley.
Also receiving special mention selections were Graham’s Amber Robeson, Northwestern’s Alexis Taylor and Urbana’s Marah Donahoe.
