Andre Gordon was every bit as good as advertised for Sidney against Bellefontaine on Tuesday night.

Gordon, a sensational sophomore guard, knocked down six three-pointers and scored 30 points to power the visiting Yellow Jackets to a 70-58 victory over the Chiefs in a non-league boys basketball game.
In last year’s matchup between the two teams, Gordon struggled with his outside shot and did most of his scoring on drives to the basket. However, he showed Tuesday that he has been working on his perimeter game.
“He’s a really good player,” said Bellefontaine head coach Jason Calton. “We wanted to push him outside. We wanted to build a wall and keep him out of the lane, but he found his outside shot. There were some shots that we were OK with him taking. To his credit, he made them. He is a tough player to defend.”
Bellefontaine (1-1) fell down 20-6 after one quarter and had to scrap and claw all night to keep up with the Yellow Jackets. The Chiefs closed to within six points on two occasions, but could not get over the hump.
“We came out sluggish to start the game and we did the same thing at the start of the second half,” said Calton. “We have to start stronger at the beginning of games and maintain that intensity throughout the game.”
