The top-seeded Chieftains are now 12- 4-2 on the season and face thirdseeded Northwestern (10-7-1) for the sectional championship Tuesday at Piqua’s soccer stadium. The match starts at 7 p.m.
The Warriors upset second-seeded Kenton Ridge 2-1 in overtime in the other sectional semifinal. BHS defeated Northwestern 5-1 during the regular season.
Highlighting the win was Daunte George, who scored a goal to the single-season scoring record of 21 goals.
“We played really well today and to see all of the different players contribute was nice, too,” said BHS head coach Steve Henry. “To have Daunté tie that record, a week after Drew Jackson broke the saves record, is pretty cool. He works his tail off and has made himself into a lethal scorer. Now, we look to Northwestern and a game that will be on grass and probably in the rain. It’s not going to be an easy game at all.”
