Bellefontaine’s softball team delivered a gritty performance Friday to pull out a 2-1 win over host Indian Lake in a local Central Buckeye Conference crossover game.
The win moves the Chiefs to 7-6 on the season and 3-4 in the CBC standings, while the Lakers slip to 9-6, 2-5.
Indian Lake got on the scoreboard first with a run in the second inning for an early 1-0 lead.
Bellefontaine got some offensive momentum going in the fifth inning to drive in two runs and take a 2-1 lead. The Chieftain defense held off the Lakers the rest of the way to secure the win.
Tayteum Vigansky picked up the win for BHS in the pitching circle with seven strikeouts.
Emma Crabtree sparked the Chiefs at the plate by going 2-4 with two RBI. Averie Vigansky and Ellie Mitchell both went 2-3
For the Lakers, Lexi Lones went 2-3, while Haylee Edwards, Claire Young and Paige Kindle Wine all had a hit.
Lones suffered the loss for the Lakers, but had five strikeouts.
Both teams are back in CBC action on Monday. Bellefontaine hosts London, while Indian Lake travels to Benjamin Logan.

Pirates zap Flyers
Riverside’s softball team rolled past host Marion Local 10-0 in five innings on Friday for a non-league win.
The Pirates improve to 6-7 on the season.
Riverside build a 4-0 lead after the third inning, but pulled away with six runs in the fifth inning for a 10-0 advantage. Marion Local couldn’t make up any ground in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Alaina Snow fired a two-hitter for the Pirates to earn the win in the pitching circle with seven strikeouts.
Offensively for Riverside, Sierra Snow and Amerra Huston both went 3-3 with two RBI, Jade Copas hit a double with an RBI, Alaina Snow hit a double, while Kylee Angle and Malian Jenkins both had one RBI.
Riverside competes again today in the Newton Classic.

WL-Salem edges Southeastern
West Liberty-Salem’s softball team scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to slip past visiting Southeastern 3-2 on Friday in Ohio Heritage Conference play.
The Tigers are now 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the league standings.
Both teams scored a run in the third inning and again in the sixth inning to stay tied at 2-2. WL-Salem’s Aubrey Williams had a walk-off single to score a run in the bottom of the seventh inning and win the game.
Williams led the Tiger offense going 3-4 with a double and an RBI. She also earned the win in the pitching circle. Alexa Still added an RBI at the plate.
WL-Salem travels to Kenton Ridge today for a non-league doubleheader.

Braves trip up Raiders
Benjamin Logan’s softball team couldn’t get on track against visiting Springfield Shawnee on Friday and fell 9-3 in a Central Buckeye Conference crossover game.
The Raiders drop to 10-3 overall and 5-2 in the CBC, while the Braves move to 11-1, 6-1.
Shawnee worked its way to a 2-1 lead after the third inning. The Braves added three runs in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning for a 7-1 score.
The Braves added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning for a 9-1 lead. The Raiders plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn’t get any closer.
Offensively for the Raiders, Lynzee Cronkleton went 2-3 with a double, Rhea Harner hit a triple with two RBI and Jenn Naragon had one RBI.
Ben Logan travels to Kenton today for a non-league game.

Triad drops Madison Plains
Join Russell fired a one-hitter to power Triad’s softball team past visiting Madison Plains 6-1 on Friday in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
The Cardinals improve to 4-8 overall and 3-4 in the OHC.
Triad held a 2-1 advantage after three innings. The Cardinals drove in four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to build a 6-1 lead and held on to win the game.
Offensively for the Cardinals, Cati LeVan went 2-3 with a double, Hailey Snider went 2-2 with a double, Morgan Alexander went 2-2 and Russell added a triple.
Triad travels to Greenville to face the Greenwave and Wayne.

Ada blanks Ridgemont
Ridgemont’s softball team was shut out by host Ada 10-0 in five innings on Friday in a non-league contest.
The Gophers fall to 7-2 on the season.
Ada drove in four runs in the third inning and piled up six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to earn the run-rule victory.
Emma Smith went 2-3 with a double to lead the Gophers at the plate and Nikki Freshcorn added a double for the team’s other hit.
Ridgemont travels to Kenton on Monday.
