Bellefontaine senior Jordan Crace captured the 145-pound state championship Saturday at the OHSAA Division II state wrestling tournament in Columbus.
Crace becomes the program’s first ever state champion and the school’s fourth state champion. He defeated Granville’s Douglas Terry 6-1 in the 145-pound state final. Crace finishes his senior season undefeated at 39-0 and is a three-time state placer and two-time state champion.
“It’s awesome to be the porgram’s first state champion,” said Crace. “It kind of makes you feel like a small town hero. It’s exciting and it’s a great way to end my senior season and finish the year.”
Crace is ranked fifth in the country and has signed to wrestle at Michigan State University next season. He won his first state title during his sophomore season at Graham High School.
“I’m a hard worker and I pushed myself, so did my teammates and coaches,” said Crace. “It’s all worth it in the end. That hard work pays off and it showed tonight.”
Bellefontaine senior Bruno Pattison also placed at the Division II state tournament. He finished seventh at 220 pounds and ends his season with a 36-9 record.
