Charlotte R. Williamson, age 76, of Sidney passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in her home.
Charlotte was born on November 24, 1945 in Shelby County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Paul J. and Jane Ruth (Licklider) Sprague. Her husband of 50 years, Gary Williamson, survives along with their daughter, Allana McCreight, and two sons, Shea Williamson and Cai (Tammy) Williamson.
She is also survived by sisters, Paula (David) Pullins, Jane Ford, and Barbara (Bud) McClain, sister-in-law, Patsy Williamson, a beloved grandson, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were very special to her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Walborn-Gantz and “Baby Sister,” and brothers-in-law, Richard Walborn, Bobby Gantz, J.D. Williamson, and Joe Ford.
As a young girl, Charlotte took extensive road trips with her parents and eventually accomplished her goal of visiting all 50 states. After graduating from Graham High School, she volunteered with the Peace Corps and lived for years in India. She welcomed the opportunity as a grand adventure and had fond memories of time spent traveling and seeing the world.
Charlotte had served as a nurse’s aide and factory worker before settling into her role as a homemaker. She was a practical type of crafter who stitched up clothes with her trusty sewing machine. She recognized the importance of a nutritious diet filled with organic foods and shared her extensive knowledge of natural remedies to help the body heal itself. A farmer through and through, she took care of animals and raised countless chickens. Planning and tending to her vegetable garden was an annual event rewarded by a bountiful harvest which she would preserve in preparation for the winter months.
Charlotte loved spending time with family and friends and was an active member of Myrtle Tree Baptist Church. She was a woman of God who was always willing and able to help others in their time of need and was described by those who knew her best as having a heart of gold. It brought her true joy to know when she had made a positive difference in the lives of others. Charlotte’s spirit will live on in Heaven and in our hearts.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Rosewood, Ohio. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful to have memorial donations made in Charlotte’s name. Donations to support community help outreach services may be sent to Myrtle Tree Baptist Church, P.O. Box 687, St. Paris, Ohio 43072.
