Charles William “Ted” Bland, 88, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday morning, April 10, 2022, at his home.
Ted was born in Mason County, West Virginia, to the late John W. Bland and Freda (Edwards) Bland Laudermilt. He was also preceded in death by a grandson Scotty Rollins, sister Betty Laudermilt, brother James Bland, and half-brothers Larry Laudermilt, Andy Laudermilt, and Walt Laudermilt.
Ted married Janet Major on August 4, 1956, in Rutland, Ohio, and she survives in Huntsville. He is also survived by daughter Melissa (Roger) Rollins of Huntsville; sons: Charles M. (Evon) Bland, Sr. of Huntsville, and Mark W. (Mary) Bland of Lakeview; 5 grandchildren: Chuck (Stephanie) Bland, Breanna (Brady) Baier, Matt (Tara) Groeschel, Cody Bland, and Colton Bland; 10 great-grandchildren: Gravin, Chloe, Dane, Austin, Bennett, Carter, Lillyan, Lincoln, Malachi, and Grayson; a half-sister Marie Harris of Racine, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
A veteran of the US Army, Ted was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He worked with Laborers Local #329 in Lima, for many years. He enjoyed metal detecting, hunting, gardening, watching wildlife, going to church, and spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He also loved to play his guitar and sing songs. Ted was a member of the Wapakoneta Pentecostal Church.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where the funeral service will begin at 1pm. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery with military honors provided by members of the Logan County Honor Guard.
