Conflicting witness statements led Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart’s office to dismiss charges against a Sidney teen who was charged with delinquency inducing panic.
Dorian Kilfian, now 17, was arrested by deputies of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in early September for an alleged shooting threat.
Stewart said a female Bellefontaine High School student claimed she overheard Dorian talking with a girl at a city restaurant and that he said he was bringing a gun to a planned active shooter drill at the school and “it wouldn’t be a drill.”
“Acting out of an abundance of caution we decided to charge Dorian and take him into custody,” Stewart said.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department investigated the claims and interviewed the girl with Dorian. She said Dorian never made such a statement.
Officers also learned Dorian had no means nor access to firearms to carry out the alleged threat.
Stewart said his office’s request to dismiss was accepted Dec. 27 in the Logan County Family Court.
