Chamber of commerce representatives are actively reaching out to local village councils in an effort to help bolster economic development throughout rural Logan County.
Lydia Hess, member and visitor services coordinator for the Logan County Chamber of Commerce, invited the West Liberty Village Council in a regular meeting Monday to keep the chamber abreast of any available spaces or resources that may interest potential businesses or industries looking to move and/or expand their footprint.
As a member of Columbus 2020 — the chief economic development organization for the 11-county region surrounding Columbus — the Logan County chamber receives daily notices from businesses looking to move, expand or open a separate space, Hess said.
She told members of council that village-specific information such as any open land, available spaces and proximity to other resources/areas helps the chamber respond to potential matches and draw in new business.
“They also usually want to know industry capacities for utilities such as electricity and water,” Hess said.
