Carol Ann Mathias Herron, 65, of Troy, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit.
She was born Jan. 22, 1951, in Lancaster, to the late Charles H. and Josephine B. Iles Mathias.
She married Randy Herron on June 30, 1973, and he survives, along with one son, Scott (Teri) Herron of Piqua; one guardian son, Nathan Perry of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Barbara (David) Crawford of Rockbridge; and one brother, Randy (Janet) Mathias of Logan.
Carol received her bachelor’s degree in education from Otterbein College and her master’s degree in special education from the University of Dayton. She taught for 35 years, including third grade at Logan-Hocking Local Schools; and special education in both the Indian Lake Local Schools and Miami East Junior High School.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troy, for more than 30 years and was a faithful Sunday School teacher. She also was principal with Buena Vista Investments. Carol loved reading, cross-stitching and doing crossword puzzles.
The Rev. Dave Leckrone officiates a funeral at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, at the First United Methodist Church, 110 W. Franklin St., Troy. Interment follows in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
