Around 1 a.m., officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to 1036 Heritage Court after the men forced their way into the residence.
Upon arrival, they found chaos in the street as dozens of people had come out of their residences. Six deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office arrived to back up the four police officers on scene.
Officers spoke with the victim, Eric Smith, who told them he heard a commotion outside and opened the door. He was met by a male who attacked him.
He fought back ,but others poured in behind his assailant.
The group began tearing up the apartment and throwing items about. They also assaulted Josh Dickinson, who was visiting Smith and his girlfriend, Amber Garner.
Both men required treatment at Mary Rutan Hospital.
About 20 minutes prior, Garner had been in a fight with a neighbor woman over the quality of a tattoo Garner received from the neighbor’s boyfriend. Another woman, who also works the carnival, backed up the neighbor and contacted her father, Hawkins.
Those women then went to 68 Grill, 1141 S. Main St., and picked up the sextet and returned to Heritage Court. They then forced their way into the apartment of Smith and Garner.
All but Hale left the scene. He was found with a cut hand that required treatment at MRH.
Officers and deputies then went to the Logan County Fairgrounds and met with the ride manager and he provided identification for the named suspects. All were located and arrested for transport to the Logan County Jail.
