Candace L. Stevely, 72, of Lakeview and formerly of Cridersville passed away 2:47 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 31, 1945, in Sidney, to the late Robert and Cleda Evans Wertz. She married Gary Stevely on June 26, 1966, and he survives in Lakeview.
Candy was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she had been very active as church and cemetery secretary, sang in the choir and had played the organ and piano for more than 40 years, also playing for wedding and funerals. Candy had also been the Cridersville village clerk for several years. She loved to read, take pontoon rides with the family and go for walks. She supported her grandkids with their sports and enjoyed taking care of them. She was a very compassionate person always putting others before herself.
Also surviving are her children, Todd (Carrie) Stevely of Marion and Emily (Jonathan) Kamin of Vassar, Mich.; and grandchildren, Ryan, Alexis and Noah.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with Pastor James C. Couser officiating. Burial is in St. Matthew Cemetery near Cridersville.
