Calvary Christian’s girls basketball team picked up back-to-back wins over the weekend. The Spartans defeated Genoa Christian 39-29 on Friday and rolled past Immaculate Conception 43-14 on Saturday.
The Spartans are now 2-1 overal and 1-1 in the Ohio Valley Christian Conference.
“I’m very proud of our team for the last couple of days,” said Calvary head coach Eli Carter. “Playing back-to-back away games can be challenging. We played with a lot of grit and I’m very excited we came away with two victories.”
Elisha Carter powered Calvary Christian with 20 points against Genoa Christian on Friday.
Carter also led the team on Saturday with 21 points and eight rebounds against Immaculate Conception. Hannah Marlow added six points with 11 rebounds and Emma Patton also had six points.
Spartan boys start season with 34-31 win over Genoa Christian
Calvary Christian’s boys basketball team held off Genoa Christian for a 34-31 victory Friday in its season opener.
“It was great to see the boys come out and show their grit to get this victory,” said Calvary head coach Lee Reinhard.
The Spartans battled Genoa Christian to a 19-19 tie at halftime. Calvary Christian outscored Genoa Christian by six points in the third quarter and went on to win the game.
Garrett Reinhard powered Calvary Christian with eight points, 14 rebounds and six steals. Ethan Carter led the scoring with 12 points, while Thomas Rorrer had nine rebounds and Daniel Miller had eight rebounds.
