Bruce “Mike” Zedeker, 69, of Kenton, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He is now in Paradise with his Lord and Savior. He was born May 12, 1952, to George and Carolyn (Shoemaker) Zedeker in Marysville.
In 1973, he married Beth Coleman, and they had two children but later divorced. On Dec. 22, 2001, he married Carol Kerns, and she survives. Also surviving are: his son Clint (Michelle)Zedeker of Bellefontaine, daughter Cory Price of Delaware, sister Darlene (Steve) Bates of West Mansfield, sister Diane (Don) Stevens of Florida. He was blessed with grandchildren: Jordi (Justin) Shupert, Jakai “Jake” Zedeker, Mia Johnson and Quinlan Zedeker. He also was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Cameron Baumgartner, Charlie Shupert and Cayleigh Shupert. Mike had many nieces and nephews, along with numerous friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents: George and Carolyn Zedeker, sister Vicki Huffman, sister Connie Kinney, brother Doug Zedeker and brother Jeff Zedeker.
Mike retired from Airstream in Jackson Center after 26 years, Ranco Inc. in Plain City for 11 years. He owned Mike’s Marathon in West Mansfield for 9 years. He worked on family vehicles, keeping them in working condition. Mike was a firefighter with over 20 years of service, and acted as Chief for 9 years at Bokes Creek Fire Department in West Mansfield.
Mike enjoyed teaching and coaching his son Clint the game of baseball and how to always play with passion and purpose. He enjoyed going to kids’ and grandkids’ events and sports. He took his granddaughter Jordi and stepson Mark on many vacation trips to Cedar Point, Ohio State Fair and many county fairs. Mike and Carol enjoyed following the “Rebels” band and riding his Harley. They had many cookouts for family and held cornhole and whiffleball tournaments while living at Indian Lake. Going to classic car shows, flea markets and eating out were his favorite things to do after his retirement.
Early in his life, Mike was a member of the West Mansfield United Methodist Church. Later, Mike, Carol and Mark were saved and baptized as a family.
It was Mike’s wishes to be cremated. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
