Motorist charged with OVI
Monica H. Irick, 42, of 430 Seymour St., was charged Wednesday with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was cited for failure to control and failure to report a crash.
Around 12:30 a.m., she was westbound on Patterson Avenue and failed to negotiate a right hand turn onto Eaton Street. Her vehicle hit and flattened a stop sign at the corner.
She drove on from the scene, but a witness followed her and directed officers to her residence.
Officers noted fresh damage to her car.
It took several minutes for officers to convince her husband, Wendell, to get her to the front door. When she appeared, she was wearing a shirt and robe, claiming she had been home for an hour.
After she was provided a pair of pajama pants and sandals, the driver was given field sobriety tests which indicated she was impaired by alcohol.
Her breathalyzer sample was 0.210.
She was released to her husband.
