The Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities President Bonnie Versele and all board members expressed their thanks during their virtual board meeting Thursday to the agency staff and all the direct service providers for continuing to provide essential services during the COVID – 19 pandemic.
Mrs. Versele wanted to acknowledge the staff for all the hard work and dedication that they have done to assure they are providing the best services possible during these unknown times.
“Not only are they continuing to do a wonderful job, but they are reaching out to support others in the community and making plans to have supplies and volunteers available as needed,” she said.
Superintendent Saul Bauer agreed that he has been impressed by the way everyone is working together as a team and supporting each other during this situation.
“The LCBDD staff never disappoint me when they are needed to work hard and step up to support the needs of others.
“The entire community is working together to make sure we are prepared; that is the great thing about this community. We thank everyone for their support, and we will continue to provide the services needed.”
Bauer also said the agency’s annual flower sale is still under way, and orders must be placed by April 20.
New Leaf Florist in Bellefontaine will provide hanging baskets for $25, in the following varieties: Boston ferns, combination blooming basket, begonias, dragon wing begonia, fuchsia, assorted greens and mixed color million bells. Hillside Greenhouse in West Liberty is providing color zonal upright geraniums in a variety of colors, including red, white, pink, orange and strawberry twizzle, in flats of 10 four-inch pots for $35.
The flowers will be available for pick up just before Mother’s Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, May 8, at the Discovery Center. The LCBDD is reviewing plans for pick up to ensure everyone’s safety if Ohio is still declared a state of emergency by Governor Mike DeWine.
To place an order, call Becky Robison at 292-3008, e-mail brobison, or mail forms to: LCBDD Foundation Flower Sale, P.O. Box 710, Bellefontaine, Ohio, 43311. Checks should be made payable to “LCBDD Foundation.”
In personnel matters, Superintendent Bauer said open positions are currently on hold until everyone is back in the office and face-to-face interviews can be scheduled. The board has two open positions at this time.
In financial business, the board ended February at 17 percent through the calendar year with the general fund at 14.6 percent utilization and the Community Support Fund is 1.7 percent utilized.
Revenues are 4.7 percent collected while the Community Support Fund is .05 percent collected. Year-to-date expenses in the general fund are 28 percent higher than this time last year because of three pays in January and revenue general fund is 20 percent higher than this time last year because of Ohio Department of Education Restorative Grants 2020.
In final business, the board approved the renewal of the NetGain Information Systems contract effective April 1 through March 31, 2021 and a new teleworking policy.
The board also granted an emergency resolution for the superintendent to have decision-making power with respect to all necessary actions to ensure the continuity of board operations during the pandemic. An addition to the LCBDD grant program was approved for enhancing assistance for providers, as needed, during the crisis.
The finance committee will meet at noon Friday, May 1, in the board office conference room. The next board meeting takes place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7, in the board office conference room. These meetings are open to the public.
If Ohio is still under a state of emergency order from the governor, these meetings will be virtual sessions. Details on how to attend will be published in the local media and can be obtained by contacting the board office.
