Benjamin Logan High School senior Claire Rhodes had a special opportunity earlier this week to shadow Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman and Ohio Senate Director of Strategic Initiatives Averel Meden.
A daughter of Neill and Tara Rhodes, Claire said it was an informative and rewarding experience.
“I met many people, as I was able to sit in on several different meetings and committees. I walked all around the Senate building and Rhodes Tower while shadowing Averel Meden most of the day, but later I was fortunate to shadow Matt Huffman in a few meetings.
“Apparently, it’s really rare to get to shadow him since he’s the president of the Senate.”
A highlight for Claire was getting to see how important every job is in making sure the government functions. The BLHS senior already knew she wanted to study political science and related, “this just made me sure that this is the path I want to pursue.”
