Benjamin Logan’s boys bowling team wrapped up a sensational season Friday by finishing sixth in the Division II state bowling tournament at HP Lanes in Columbus.
There were 16 teams in the field. The format consisted of three conventional games and three baker games, with the top eight teams moving on to a championship bracket.
For the three conventional games, Jarrett Buckenroth rolled games of 204, 175 and 254 for a 633 series to lead the Raiders.
Buckenroth earned second-team all-Ohio honors.
Caleb Knight posted games of 222, 212 and 195 for a 629 series. That earned him a spot on the honorable mention all-Ohio squad.
Landon Stoodt had games of 167, 192 and 232 for a 591 series and Nate Davis posted games of 192, 200 and 185 for a 577 series.
As a team during qualifying, Ben Logan posted a total of 3,562 to rank second going into bracket matches.
The bracket consisted of the top eight teams going head to head in a best of five format.
In the first round, the Raiders faced Warren Champion.
Warren Champion won the first game 181-157 before Ben Logan won the second game 192-149.
Warren Champion then took the third game 167-158 and won the fourth game 181-171 to advance to the semifinals.
Marion Pleasant defeated Warren Champion in the semifinals setting up championship match between Pleasant and Akron Coventry. Pleasant swept Coventry in three games to win the state title.
Warren Champion finished third, Liberty Center was fourth and Coldwater was fifth. Kenton Ridge seventh and Hanoverton United was eighth.
Riverside’s King, Lakers’ McMillen compete as individuals
Riverside’s Sam King and Indian Lake’s Chase McMillen participated as individual state qualifiers in Friday’s Division II state tournament.
King, who was bowling in his third state tournament, finished 43rd out of 101 bowlers with a 563 series. He had games of 210, 207 and 146.
McMillen posted games of 143, 137 and 174 for a 454 series.
