Bicyclist injured in crash, motorist charged with hit-skip
Bicyclist Lisa L. Reesor, 36, of 220 E. Harrison St., Lakeview, was transported via Indian Lake EMS to Lima Memorial Health System for treatment of serious injuries sustained in a hit-skip crash about 6:45 p.m. Thursday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office said following the crash, Timothy A. Brown, 39, of Maplewood, has been charged with a fourth-degree felony count of hit and run.
About 11:45 a.m. Friday, Brown reportedly turned himself into the deputies at the sheriff’s office. He reportedly admitted that his vehicle struck a bicycle the previous evening.
Relating to the crash, deputies report Reesor was operating a northbound bicycle on Tecumseh Path approaching the intersection of State Route 235.
Brown reportedly was operating a northwestbound pickup on S.R. 235 approaching Tecumseh Path.
Deputies said the bicyclist failed to yield the right of way to the pickup and entered the intersection, where the pickup struck the bicycle.
Reesor was thrown from the bicycle and the bicycle came to rest in the southbound lane of travel. The pickup then fled the scene.
The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet, according to the crash report. Deputies continue to investigate.
Man lodged for domestic violence
Franklin B. Hatton, 33, of 8890 Township Road 239, Lot 32, Lakeview, was charged with domestic violence following an incident early Friday morning.
Deputies responded to 8890 T.R. 239, lot 51, about 3:05 a.m. to speak with his girlfriend on a report that Hatton had physically assaulted her.
His girlfriend told deputies that Hatton had been consuming alcohol and marijuana that evening, and she had confronted him about a situation when he arrived home. She said she grabbed for his cell phone and then he allegedly grabbed her around the neck and threw her against the couch. Deputies observed that she had sustained minor scratches on her left forearm and right hand.
Hatton told deputies he had not grabbed his girlfriend, but later said his alcohol consumption was causing issues in the relationship. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
