Free concert, rifle raffle will proceed at Holland Theatre
The Logan County Bicentennial parade and celebration scheduled for this Sunday has been postponed to Sunday, Sept. 30.
The free concert will proceed as scheduled this weekend, along with the raffle of three commemorative Henry rifles engraved with bicentennial logos and local scenes. The doors of the Holland Theatre will open at 6 p.m. this Sunday and the raffle for the three rifle will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets fort he raffle will be available until the time of the drawing. At 7 p.m., the High and Mighty Brass Band, an eight-piece band from New York City with a New Orleans style sound, will entertain the crowd at the Holland Theatre during the free event.
The Bicentennial Steering Committee made the decision to postpone the parade and outdoor activities on Friday because of a weather forecast that calls for a 100 percent chance of rain on Sunday and the potential for high winds.
The rain date for the parade and outdoor events has been set for Sunday, Sept. 30, with the start of the parade being moved up an hour to 2:30 p.m. All five bands from Logan County High School were being contacted Friday to determine their availability on the new date. The committee also planned to reach out to the approximately 150 groups or individuals who had planned to have floats in the parade.
The downtown celebration, which includes historic games and inflatables and nine food vendors will also be rescheduled for the Sept. 30 date with activities beginning at noon. Food vendors unable to make the rescheduled date will be eligible for refunds, Bellefontaine Service-Safety Director David Henry said.
Local tours of nine local, historic sites participating in the Ohio Open Doors is also being rescheduled to Sept. 30.
