THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
GET INVOLVED
Here are some ways to get involved with the Logan County Bicentennial:
• TOUR A MUSEUM: A display of 200 Artifacts and 200 Photos will open to the public during an open house of the Logan County History Center, 521 E. Columbus Ave., from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15.
• RELIVE HISTORY: Cooking fires will blaze at the pre-1840s encampment during the Logan Hills Festival, May 26-28, which will be Zanesfield’s bicentennial celebration. The historical Taloga outdoor drama and a native pow-wow are also featured for those who prefer to view history instead of living it.
• CONTRIBUTE TO A CAUSE: Restoring the historic opera house atop West Liberty Town Hall will be the focus of an event being planned for the afternoon of Sunday, June 10. Although final details are not finalized, the West Liberty Historical Society is gearing to kick off its fundraiser on the 149th anniversary of the gala opening of the opera house and town hall.
• CHILL AT THE LAKE: Two events are being planned in conjunction with the summer fun at Indian Lake. On Saturday, June 30, Lakeview residents will incorporate a historical theme in the annual Car and Craft Show. Russells Point will celebrate the milestone as part of the Harborfest celebration on Saturday, Aug. 4.
• MARCH IN A PARADE: Marching bands from local school districts have been invited to march through Bellefontaine on a parade route from the old Belleville town to Bellefontaine on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 9. The culmination of the year’s festivities will also include walking tours of downtown buildings, food vendors and other activities.
• MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Logan County residents can buy a commemorative calendar for $5 as a keepsake of the history of the county. Calendars are available at Logan County’s Chamber of Commerce, History Center, Commissioners’ Office, the Holland Theatre and the Sloan Library in Zanesfield.
