Bellefontaine’s girls bowling team and Riverside’s boys squad took home championship trophies Tuesday after competing in the Holiday Baker Classic at T-P Lanes.
The Lady Chiefs tallied a total of 1,924 for the 10 baker games. They had scores of 256, 188, 210, 159, 175, 150, 214, 182, 191 and 199. The 256 was a new high baker game record.
The field was cut to eight teams for the tournament bracket portion. Teams were placed into head-to-head matchups, with the winner of the best of three advancing to the next round.
Bellefontaine first faced Bucyrus and Bellefontaine won 213-146, 213-140 to move on.
The Chiefs next battled Troy and improved on their previous record of 256 with a 257 in the first game, which beat Troy’s 160. Bellefontaine followed with a 176-129 victory to move into the championship round.
The Chiefs beat Wapakoneta 226-186 and 186-172 to win the tournament.
On the day, Bellefontaine averaged 202.81.
Indian Lake’s girls and Ben Logan’s girls also competed. The Lakers won their first matchup, beating Washington Court House. Indian Lake then fell to Wapakoneta. Ben Logan lost to Wapak in its first tournament match.
On the boys side, Riverside beat Wapakoneta in its first match and then knocked off Indian Lake, which had defeated Ben Logan in the first round.
In the finals, the Pirates beat Washington Court House to capture the title.
In the 10 baker games, Riverside recorded a total of 2,008. That included a 269 game and a 242 game.
