Betty Jean Wilt, 86, of Rushsylvania passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
She was born in Franklin County on Oct. 3, 1930, to the late Howard and Bertha Wilson Spillman.
On Sept. 25, 1946, she married Willard “Gene” Wilt and he preceded her in death April 26, 2016.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Terry Wilt and Robert Wilt; son-in-law, Jerry Downing; and a brother, Howard William Spillman.
Betty worked for several area department stores including The United Store and Ulhman’s, both in Bellefontaine. She enjoyed sewing and loved to walk.
Betty is survived by children, Linda Downing and Bonnie (Mike) Hamilton, both of Rushsylvania; four grandchildren, De De (Mike) Doss, Heather (Andy) Godwin, Jerry (Jennifer) Downing and Mike (Daphne) Hamilton; eight great-grandchildren, Joel Doss, Tucker Downing, Holden Downing, Gage Downing, Kelsey Godwin, Hayden Godwin, Kyla Godwin and John Hamilton.
Pastor Lloyd Ferguson officiates the funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Burial is in Rushsylvania Cemetery.
