Benjamin Logan’s Homecoming Celebration Friday evening at Raider Stadium included the crowning of this year’s Homecoming Queen, Sidney Puckett, and King, Sam Henderson.
Sidney is a daughter of Darren and Beth Puckett of Bellefontaine. At Benjamin Logan, she is involved in track and National Honor Society. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and JO volleyball.
Sam is a son of Jocelyn and Stephen Henderson of East Liberty. At Benjamin Logan, Sam is involved in swim, and outside of school, he enjoys skiing and 4-H.
The 2019 Homecoming Queen Bailey Shope was present to crown Sidney. Bailey is a daughter of Eric and Sherry Shope and is attending the University of Findlay, majoring in dental hygiene.
Prior to the Friday evening event, a school wide pep assembly took place during the afternoon outside in the stadium. The golf, cross country, volleyball, soccer and football teams were recognized.
The Raider Marching Band played Buckeye Swag, Land of 1000 Dances, and Go Team Go. The cheerleaders had an opportunity to showcase their stunts. The homecoming attendants were introduced and the king and queen candidates were announced.
The Spirit Award was presented to the president of the junior class for displaying great effort, enthusiasm, and for generating school spirit. The pep assembly concluded with the Raider Fight Song.
Friday evening, the marching band performed a show based on Motown Hits under the direction of Myles Bowers, assisted by Tabetha Lewis, along with Color Guard Instructor Jacob Canipe, and Drumline Instructor Dennis Crites.
The band was led onto the field by Senior Field Commanders Alicia Jenkins and Kylie Fansler with Junior Field Commander Averi Lane.
Members opened with a medley containing Get Ready, Dancing in the Street, Stop! In the Name of Love, I Can’t Help Myself, Reach Out and I’ll Be There. The second sequence contained a Jackson 5 medley featuring junior trumpet soloist, Brice Shump, junior dancer Katie Holycross, and senior flag soloist Josh Phillips.
The band concluded the evening’s performance with hits from Stevie Wonder, including Sir Duke and Superstition featuring senior xylophone soloist Kylie Fansler.
The BLHS 2020 Queen and King candidates were Raistlyn LeVan and Sam Henderson; Elanie McWade and Tucker Munz; Tori Miller and Aden Neeley; Sidney Puckett and Kainan Stoner; and Brinlyn Tipton and Mitch Vance.
The freshmen attendants included Celeste Allen and Graham Studebaker, and Georgia Bates and Hunter Peterson. The sophomore attendants were Elliott Bailey and Owen O’Brien. The junior attendants were Maya Maxwell and Riley Scott.
The ladies received a bouquet of flowers and the gentlemen wore a boutonniere provided by Sweet Annie’s Flower Truck of Bellefontaine. Jeff Rose Photography was on hand to capture the memories for the court.
Trisha Hemmelgarn, student government adviser, organized the events following social distancing and safety protocols to maintain a healthy environment for the teams and spectators.
