Benjamin Logan High School students tried out their limbo and hula-hooping skills Monday for an important cause in a Relay For Life kickoff event to prep for the upcoming high school Relay Day Friday, May 14.
Select pupils participated in the contests to get in the luau spirit for the Hawaiian themed “Re-Lei.”
Updates were provided about ticket sales, concession stand options, $100 donors and planned Relay activities.
District officials report a cumulative total of $349,972.27 has been raised by
Benjamin Logan Relay participants in support of the American Cancer Society since the activities began in 2004.
In 2014, the Benjamin Logan Relay For Life made its highest contribution toward the cause, $40,000, followed by the second-highest donation the following year of $38,000.
The 2021 fundraising goal is to reach or exceed $30,000, as a combined effort of the middle school and high school.
The high school Relay For Life events are coordinated by the High School Career Tech Education Department.
